Compress a video under 25 MB for email or LMS
School portals, job applications, and many email gateways still advertise attachment or upload caps around 25 MB (sometimes lower). Re-encoding locally is often enough; you should not need to upload the original to a random compression site first.
Pick the right ceiling
- ~25 MB: common LMS / assignment upload and many “large attachment” policies.
- ~8 MB: stricter web forms and older gateways.
- Email: Gmail’s documented attachment limit is 25 MB; larger items are nudged toward Drive links. Other providers differ — check yours.
Steps
- Open LocalVideoZip.
- Drop your MP4, WebM, or MOV.
- Select the Email / LMS (~25 MB) preset — or the strict ~8 MB preset if the form says so.
- Compress on this device and download the result.
- Confirm the downloaded file size in your OS file properties before uploading to the portal or composing the email.
When the preset cannot hit the cap
Bitrate math has limits. A long 4K recording may need a shorter cut, a lower resolution, or both. Trim length in your editor first if the encode still exceeds the target, then compress again. The tool should tell you when it cannot meet the goal rather than silently ship an oversized file (behavior depends on the encode engine build).
Privacy
Your assignment video may contain faces, whiteboards, or other sensitive content. Keeping encode on-device avoids parking that footage on a third-party compressor. Confirm with DevTools → Network.
